New Donk City Population Increase

It had started as a lovely day in New Donk City.  Mayor Pauline had been giving her friend Princess Peach a personal tour of the city sights.  Everything had been going smoothly, until a dark shadow had passed over the city followed by dozens of audible squishes as soft green mushrooms started raining over the city.  Soft and plush they caused no damage or harm to the city or occupants but they did reveal a startling trick!  Each time one of these "1-Up Mushrooms" touched a woman she gained an extra life in the form of a baby!  Soon the healthy female population found themselves growing pregnant when they came into contact with the mushrooms!  Women took shelter as shirts and blouses were stretched out by growing bellies all over the city. 

Pauline felt a couple bounce off her shoulders and hat and soon after her suit was pushed open by her belly swelling with new life.   Soon her new constituents kicked gently as she rested a hand on her taut stomach..  As the mayor observed this change she was thunderstruck when Princess Peach waddled over, her dress now covering a womb that was bigger than her own!  Unfortunately, Peach was having trouble seeing where she was walking with her belly and she had stepped on a few mushrooms littering the ground on her path to Pauline, making her grow even more gravid!  Pauline is worried for her city and it's people but Peach seems pretty happy her maternal glow almost visible as she rests her hands on her full figure.  That big castle of hers isn't going to seem so empty now!  It wasn't long before male clean up crews disposed of the mushrooms but this still left a huge population boom in the city!

So I fell in love with this song youtu.be/1bZtCt_Siro and after watching a few LP's of Mario Odyssey decided Pauline got the best revamp of a leading lady from the Nintendo universe.  I also like the idea of someone dropping one up shrooms on the city causing this particular issue.  But who caused the population increase?  And what happens next?  What's also interesting is this is one of my first attempts at a preggo Princess Peach!
